Disciple Now Weekend 2008

So this weekend was DNow at the church! We (OK I) volunteered our house to be a host home. We had 8, 6th grade girls at our house. We were scared, but they were so polite and well behaved that we were amazed! The weekend was fun. Saturday morning we got up and headed to the church for FOOD FIGHT. This isn't like it sounds. It was a race to see which group could collect the most cans in less than 1 hour. Our group got 296. Total though, the youth collected over 14,000 cans for the Austin Community Pantry in less than a hour. After that it was back to the house for lunch and a breakout session.

Then back to the church for the Bigger and Better Scavenger Hunt. We started with a pencil and had to trade up. All the items collected were being auctioned off in a silent auction today at the church to raise money for a Christian college in India. We ended up with a Bible. It definitely wasn't the biggest, but our angle was what is truly better.

After that, the kids had dinner at the church and then a prayer and praise service. Wow, what an experience to look into The Rock (that's what the youth building is called at the church) and hearing over 450 students singing praise to God.
Here is a picture of our group. Hope everyone has a very Happy Thanksgiving and safe travels for those we won't see!

Family Camp Weekend

Well, we were suppose to have a great experience at our family camp weekend back on October 10th. Instead, we all got the stomach bug and had to come home before we got to do anything. Here are a few random pics we got while the boys were sick, but it hadn't made it to us. And yes, I know I'm fat, no need to comment obnoxious ones!

Also, there are some random pics we took on my birthday of Landry in the bath with her bubbles beard and green bean mustache! And her two handed bottle act!

Landry's First Halloween

We'll Landry's first halloween wasn't to eventful. Neither one of the boys were here, so not a lot of excitement. Actually, Halloween was a major disappointment this year. We live on the very last (back) street in our neighborhood so we hardly got any trick or treaters. Although, the ones we did get our zombie scared the bejesus out of them (including Landry as you can see)! Toby did stop by long enough for us to snap his pic. Landry pooped out about 7:30, so that was all she wrote!

Although, prior to that she was practicing standing without holding on to anything. She was a able to do it a super long time. Maybe one day, I'll figure out how to upload video!
